How did the patient from Italy get to fix her teeth in Moldova

Maria Paola with her husband found out about our clinic from another patient named Angelo – a councilor who told them about his experience with us.

The patient contacted us and sent us the radiography to receive an approximate estimate of the treatment.

As we can notice on the radiography that patient didn’t have any teeth. Simultaneously, the amount of bone (at least in height) is enough for the implant placement and a fixed dental treatment.

Being very confident in the friend’s verbal review and pleasantly surprised by the cost of the treatment, the couple also decided to travel to Moldova.

The confirmed treatment plan

Upon arrival at our clinic, we did a CT scan to analyze the amount of available bone.
Our biggest concern was that the patient was wearing the temporary prosthesis for a very long time. The complete removable prostheses are made of rigid acrylic. They fit over the gum and bone of the patient and they can damage it both in thickness and in height. Maria Paola is one of the few patients with total edentation who was lucky enough to keep the maxillary bone in good conditions. Thus, we managed to insert the implants without significant bone grafts. Only a few artificial bone granules were added to correct the bone level in several regions of the upper jaw. It was also possible to perform the treatment in 2 stages. The treatment in her case involved a complete rehabilitation with 6 implants per jaw: the All On 6 technique.

Removable prosthesis and an additional visit.

Although our working protocol, gave her the possibility of a temporary bridge, the patient had to refuse it for financial reasons. The patient decided to patiently arm herself and continue wearing her old prostheses during the period of osteointegration (this is called the process of ” bone growing ” right up to the implant surface).

However, at our subsequent recommendation, Maria Paola agreed to make another visit for the placement of the “healing abutment”. These are some screws that facilitate the healing of gum around the dental implant.

Thus, the healing abutments were placed above the implants 2 months before the definitive prosthesis stage. Once the healing abutment are placed, the removable dentures practically becomes unusable. It is possible to put them in the mouth, but they usually don’t fit very well and their purpose is just for smiling.

On the day of the impressions, in the third stage of the treatment, the gum was completely healed and ready for the impressions.

The final result

Both bridges were made of ceramic on metallic frame (metal-ceramic). The bridges were fixed by the screw retained technique, using the straight MUA accessories, which in the Alpha Bio implant system are called TCT. MUA (multi unit abutment) are recommended for a tension-free screwing of long bridges over the implants.

TCT are several times cheaper than angled MUA. In this case, the position of the implants was favorable, which allowed us to attach the entire final prosthetic construction using only TCT. This allowed the patient to save a lot of money.

The patient left Moldova happy and smiling. Shortly afterwards Maria Paola and her husband spread everywhere in the village, like a spider web, their wonderful dental experience. Now, more and more patients, friends and relatives of the patient decide to follow her example.
